Terms of Service
Last updated: October 25, 2026
The short version: this is a personal site. Read it, link to it, use the projects at your own risk. Don't attack it, don't misrepresent it as yours, and don't rely on it for anything critical.
1. Acceptance
These terms govern your use of ashtonwilliamallen.com, its subdomains, and any project, tool, demo, or file hosted on them (the "Site"), operated by Ashton Allen ("I", "me"). By accessing the Site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Site.
2. What the Site is
The Site is a personal portfolio and a place where I host my own projects. Content is provided for general information and demonstration. It is not professional advice of any kind, and nothing here creates a client, advisory, employment, or other professional relationship between us.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these terms;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its hosting infrastructure, or any connected system;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Site, or interfere with or disrupt its operation;
- scrape, crawl, or automatically retrieve content in a way that imposes an unreasonable load, or use content to train machine learning models without permission;
- introduce malware, or use the Site to distribute unlawful or infringing material;
- misrepresent your affiliation with me, or use the Site's content to imply my endorsement.
4. Intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, the design, text, images, and other content on the Site are mine and are protected by copyright. You may view the Site, link to it, and quote short excerpts with attribution. You may not republish substantial portions, or use the content commercially, without my written permission.
Source code released under an open source license, whether published here or in a linked repository, is governed by that license, which controls over this section for that code. Third-party names and marks appearing on the Site belong to their respective owners.
5. Hosted projects and subdomains
Projects hosted on subdomains are personal work, are often experimental, and may change or disappear without notice. Where a project publishes its own terms, license, or documentation, those apply to that project in addition to these terms, and control where the two conflict.
6. Third-party links
The Site links to external websites and services I do not control. Those links are not endorsements, and I am not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, or practices of any third-party site.
7. No warranty
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. I do not guarantee that the Site will be error-free or secure, or that any content or project on it is current or correct. You use it at your own risk.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of your access to or use of the Site, whether based in contract, tort, or any other theory, even if I have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold me harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the Site or your violation of these terms.
10. Availability and changes
I may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time, without notice and without liability. I may also update these terms; the revised version takes effect when posted, with a new date at the top. Continued use after that means you accept the change.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these terms or the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Cumberland County, Maine, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
12. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions stay in full force.
